Visual Artist ICONS of the LGBT community

One of my all time favorite LGBT Icon artist is Andy Warhol.  The famous "POP" artist printer, moviemaker.

this is a great site to see more images and learn about his history. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/americanmasters/database/warhol_a.html
There are also a few movies that were made about his life that you might want to watch if you haven't yet.  Here is the Link for the trailer to the 1996 movie "I Shot Andy Warhol"  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116594/trailers-screenplay-E17287-310

and another film I really enjoyed titled "Basquiat" 1996 another famous artist who was Andy's friend.

There are also many more like Keith Haring "CRACK IS WACK!"

David Hockney,  Raushenberg, Jasper Johns, and the beautiful Bi-Sexual Frida Kahlo just to name a few more.

Check out this link I found on glbtq ..........an encyclopedia of gay, lesbian, transgender & queer culture www.glbtq.com/subject/arts_a-b.html  it lists many creative people in our LGBT creative community.  As an artist I believe we have an obligation to know as much as we can about the History of  art and even more specifically LGBT art.    Keith and Andy are two of my most favorite artists ever.  I grabbed a few pics and links for you to click.  Now I invite you to share your favorite LGBT artist Icons and I will do a post about them as well.  Share with us links and images, movies, books......  Comment your thoughts here on the BLOG and with this quick history lesson the reason is,  remembering where we have come from to move forward where we want to go with our own creativity!

LiveLifeLoud, KEEP creating and get your work seen, and or heard!

Much More to come the next few weeks.  We are working on some great new ideas and helpful information to find artistic jobs, schooling scholarships, linking to one another and most importantly exposure for you and your desire to live and work,  NOT Living to Work, or Working to LIVE,  but Living to create...that is any artist's dream to be able to Live and grow constantly in their creativity.

with much peace and luv
